Shilpa Shetty-Kundra Invests in 'Farm-to-Fork' Startup Kisankonnect
Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty-Kundra has made an undisclosed investment in Kisankonnect, a Mumbai-based startup founded in 2020. Kisankonnect operates an advanced and tech-enabled supply chain, sourcing directly from a network of 5,000 members through village-level collection centers. It delivers fresh produce conveniently to consumers in Mumbai and Pune, offering a differentiated model compared to other e-commerce players in the industry like Big-basket and Otipy.
With her commitment to fitness and good health, Shilpa Shetty-Kundra aims to contribute actively to the promotion of fresh food, a vital element of a healthy lifestyle. She expressed her enthusiasm for Kisankonnect's mission and its efforts to connect farmers directly with consumers, emphasizing the importance of safe-to-eat food and its positive impact on health.
Vivek Nirmal, the Founder of Kisankonnect, highlighted their focus on soil health and regenerative agriculture practices, providing better returns for farmers and nutritious food for consumers. The startup offers a wide assortment of fruits and vegetables, ensuring fast delivery within 4-6 hours or the option to visit their nearby 'Farm Stores.' With an annualized revenue run rate of Rs 120 crore and serving over one lakh consumers in Pune and Mumbai, Kisankonnect has successfully built a robust supply chain and prioritized customer experience.
The agricultural technology sector in India has gained significant attention due to its vast potential for new business models and the opportunity to address inefficiencies in the supply chain, ultimately benefiting both farmers and consumers in the horticulture industry.
